Developer Mobius Digital asked the question, “What if The Legend of Zelda was in space?”. The result was Outer Wilds, an open world action-adventure game that mixed elements of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, with the spirit of Apollo 13 and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Outer Wilds launched on May 28, 2019. It was developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive, the same publisher as the highly acclaimed Stray.
Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye gives players several more hours worth of content and a new mystery explore. A new exhibit to explore is added towards the beginning of the game. The expansion also introduces new, but sadly extinct, races to learn about and what they did in their own attempt to save the universe.
Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye Premise
In the base game, Outer Wilds, the player embarks on their first solo flight before realizing the entire solar system is stuck in a time loop. It resets every 22 minutes when the sun goes supernova and explodes. The player must explore the solar system, solve puzzles, and uncover the secrets of an ancient extinct race, the Nomai, while also trying to learn why the sun explodes every 22 minutes.
The Echoes of the Eye expansion DLC introduces a new location for the player to explore, a cloaked spacecraft called The Stranger. The Stranger was built by a race that predates not only the Hearthians, but also the ancient Nomai. The player must now uncover their history and how their actions impacted the solar system and led to the events of the base game. Like the base game, Echoes of the Eye has multiple endings depending on the player’s choices.
Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye Main Character
Outer Wilds and its expansion both follow the same unnamed protagonist equipped with advanced space exploration technology and a love for toasted marshmallows. The player is the newest recruit of the Outer Wilds Ventures. It is a Hearthian space program dedicated to learning about the Solar System and the Nomai. While the player’s name is never specified, they are known to be part of the Hearthian race.
Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye Series
Outer Wilds has no prequels or sequels at this point in time. It currently has only one DLC expansion, Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye. The studio however has several unique adventure and puzzle games under their belt. If you are looking for more space exploration and logic games, you can check out some of the other projects by the same developer. Here is a list of games developed by Mobius Digital:

Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye Cheat Codes
Unfortunately for players, both the base game and Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye do not have any in-game cheat codes. Many modern-day games have abandoned the cheat code system that was iconic at the beginning of the gaming industry. They were originally a tool for developers during playtesting that just isn’t needed anymore. Luckily players who own the PC version are still able to implement cheats into the game by downloading a cheat trainer. These trainers can activate useful cheats such as the following:
- Unlimited Health
- Unlimited Fuel
- Unlimited Oxygen
- Unlimited Jetpack Boost
- Set Game Speed
