Outlast Will Be Free For All PS4 PS Plus Subscribers On February 5th

Earlier this week, Red Barrels Games confirmed via their Outlast Facebook Page that the independent survival horror title would be free for all PS4 PS Plus subscribers beginning on February 5 th . PS Plus customers are currently enjoying Don’t Starve: Console Edition , which launched on the PS4 on last week.

Outlast has been described as a first-person survival horror game that takes place within the confines of an abandoned insane asylum. Players take on the role of freelance journalist Miles Upshur and are tasked with navigating through the dangerous environment without the use of a weapon. The video camera that Miles uses proves to be an excellent light source and the player holds the advantage of vaulting over enemies. Outlast was originally released on the PC back in September of last year.

After hearing this news, I would say that Sony’s PlayStation Plus program is off to a great start so far in 2014. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft’s Games with Gold offers any type of competition when it launches on the Xbox One later this year. For now, I would say that it’s a safe bet that they won’t and Sony will continue to dominate this concept as the year goes on.

Will any of you be checking out Outlast when it hits PS4 early next month? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
