Paragon Assets Released for Free

Paragon Assets Released for Free

Epic Games, the studio in charge of the wildly popular Fortnite , have announced something amazing today. Their previously shuttered MOBA Paragon is not going out without a bang. $12 million worth of assets from Paragon are being released via the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Already existing and would-be game developers can use any and all of these assets on projects of their own. These can be “just for fun” work or for legitimate commercial games intended for sale.

For anyone looking into taking advantage of these assets, the only thing they need to keep in mind is that they are usable only in Unreal Engine 4. Other than that, it is a complete free for all! A bunch of Paragon Asset packs went live yesterday, and even more will continue to be released through summer of 2018. These Asset packs include characters (their textures, skins, animations, abilities, character special effects, and dialogue), environment assets (and a sample map), and announcer audio. Again, these can all be used however the developer chooses.

Epic Games is even going through all the trouble of helping potential downloaders figure out how to set up animations on the characters. There’s already existing documents to help those self-starters. But there’s also an upcoming livestream with Jay Hosfelt to walk people through the set up. That will be happening on March 29 at 11am Pacific Time viewable on the Unreal Engine Twitch channel .

If you want to get started with the Paragon Asset packs, you simply have to go over to the Unreal Engine Marketplace and download them! It should be fun to see what all kinds of creators come up with using Paragon ‘s assets. What a wonderful way to give a failed game new life.
