Player Builds Monument to Developer in No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky , the hotly anticipated, subsequently disappointing, eventually decent, and now amazing space exploration game by Hello Games, has been through quite the journey. Now, presumably in honor of the developer’s continued dedication to its player base, one gamer has built a tribute to Hello Games’ founder, Sean Murray. Maybe it’s time to check it out?

The tribute takes the form of a giant, pixelated portrait of his face that was built from in-game materials. Because of the persistent nature of No Man’s Sky , this monument is accessible to all of the players, although it is extremely unlikely that you will stumble across it accidentally. In regards to his feat, the player tweeted “I got an image of Sean, removed the color, resized it to 37 x 50 pixels, posterized it to 4 levels, then used the resulting image as a guide and counted carefully. Time consuming, but not difficult.”

Want to see it? Here are the coordinates.

Here’s the portal address. Unfortunately the base is 11 hours away on foot, 3 hours by exocraft. Still a nice planet to check out. pic.twitter.com/yDU2norlYj

In terms of resolution, the picture looks slightly better than the kind of image someone could take with a Gameboy Camera, which isn’t a criticism by any means. It somehow seems to fit in with the underdeveloped landscape of the unsettled planet and is a testament to the overall spirit of the game. It will take a bit of work but players interested in making the pilgrimage can find instructions here.
