PlayStation Plus Announces End of Free PS3 and Vita Titles

PlayStation Plus Announces End of Free PS3 and Vita Titles

One amazing thing companies like Sony and Microsoft have to offer for fans of online gaming is the additional reward of free titles every month. Sony especially has been killing it in this realm, since they continually offered not only PlayStation 4 titles, but also PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games. As it turns out, all good things must come to an end. Sony has announced today that they will be removing PS3 and Vita titles from their monthly free games next year.

As of March 8, 2019, PS Plus memberships will no longer come with the opportunity to get PlayStation 3 or Vita games. Any titles that you have “purchased” and/or downloaded before that date will still remain a part of your account, so long as you continue to have an active PS Plus membership. Just to clarify that , if you fall on hard times and cannot renew your PS Plus membership, your games will still be there waiting for you in your library when you’re able to renew again. After March 8, 2019, PlayStation Plus’ free games will be entirely focused on the PlayStation 4.

Up until then, we will still see PlayStation 3 and Vita games added to the list. For the month of March 2018 there are actually four such titles. Legend of Kay (PS3), Mighty No. 9 (PS3, PS4), Claire: Extended Cut (Vita, PS4), and Bombing Busters (Vita, PS4). For those only interested in the PlayStation 4 goodies, Sony is adding Ratchet & Clank (the remake) to PS Plus’ free games, and also Bloodborne . Sounds like a winning month of free games to soften the blow of the service’s other news.

How are you feeling about the loss of free PlayStation 3 and Vita games?
