PlayStation Rewards Cancelled?

PlayStation Rewards Cancelled?

None

The PlayStation Rewards program, which was announced last fall and went into beta testing phase immediately afterwards looks like it will not be rolling out any time soon and may be outright cancelled, according to an email sent to beta testing participants that read, “Based on what we learned, we have decided the program is not ready to roll out to the public in April as originally planned. But rest assured, we will continue to thank loyal and devoted customers like you with innovative offerings.”

When press followed up with Sony, they responded that the project has been delayed “indefinitely” which sounds like “cancelled” to us. If the program had come to fruition it would have featured a tiered rewards system that would allow frequent PlayStation players to download free DLC and other goodies based on a tiered recognition system. Hopefully Sony will reconsider this decision, as free stuff is always a great way to get more activity from loyal customers, and would certainly help them gain an edge in the multiplatform game.
