Property Developer Uses Screenshot from SimCity

Every now and then we occasionally find a situation wherein a screenshot from a videogame is used to advertise / report on something that isn’t at all related with the industry, such as what a property developer has recently down with Electronic Arts’ city builder SimCity .

Whether or not the property developer was aware that the screenshot it used was from a multi-million selling game, it nonetheless used the screenshot to pretend it was their new real estate project, and thereafter offered up an apology when it was outed on the matter, according to Yahoo.News.

The property developer in question, referred to as Visionary Property, used the SimCity screenshot to promote the “Dubai Metro City project”, which was billed at this year’s CityScape event in the United Arab Emirates’ city of Dubai. The project was described as a “ futuristic urban hub combining business, retail, residential and visitor attractions and facilities ” that was also a “ unique, eco-aware and designer city.

The project was promised to house over 40,000 residents by the city’s completion in 2017, with more than 20 5-star hotels to boot.

Upon being notified that the screenshot Visionary Property used was from SimCity , the chairman of the Dubai Metro City project, Abdul Al Turk, released a statement that reportedly backtracked on his original statement, which said that the company had worked with “ the world’s most renowned architects ” in preparing the images of the would-be city.

Turk did, however, admit that the screenshot used was indeed taken from SimCity . Seemingly unshaken from the incident, he added the company is still determined to put the project into reality.

But we’re still determined to make this iconic project a reality should anyone be interested in investing, ” he said, according to Yahoo.News.

We’ll bring you more news on SimCity should further information reach our ears.
