PS Move Ships 10.5 Million Units

In a panel at the Game Developers Conference this week, Sony provided an update on how well the PlayStation Move is selling. To date, the Move has shipped 10.5 million units. Sony did not provide a specific number for sales (as opposed to shipments) but he did say that the Move was rather successful for Sony and that the Move control scheme plays a big role in the company’s plans for the future.



This particular statement is interesting, considering the current state of the market we live in. Many analysts believe that first-party developers will be coming out with new consoles sometime between 2013 and 2015. That means that the PS3 is probably nearing the end of its lifespan. If that is the case, then it is possible that Sony will be doing what Nintendo is doing with the Wii U by making Move controllers work on their next-generation console.
