PS4 PlayStation Store Now Live in Japan

The PlayStation 4 release date in Japan is hurtling closer (February 22), and the console’s PlayStation Store is now live in that country. This means that PlayStation 4 users with a Japanese account can now sign in and browse the PlayStation Store, which has some launch-day offerings, as reported by Gematsu .

Some of the launch-day offerings, like Yakuza: Ishin , can’t be downloaded from the store just yet. However, other games, like Dream Club: Host Girls on Stage and Onigiri , are available.

What’s more, subscribing to PlayStation Plus will allow you a selection of free copies of full titles from the Japanese PlayStation Store, such as Tokyo Jungle , Metal Slug , Soul Sacrifice , Limbo , Hawx 2 and more .

Furthermore, as reported by VG24/7 , the PlayStation 4 launch in Japan will be livestreamed via Ustream and NicoNico on February 21. The launch event itself will take place in the Sony Building in Ginza at 10:30pm local Japanese time, and guest speakers include Final Fantasy XIV′s Naoki Yoshida, Sony CEO Andrew House, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Japan Asia president Hiroshi Kawano, Metal Gear Solid V director Hideo Kojima, Final Fantasy XV producer Shinji Hashimoto, and Yakuza series general director Toshiro Nagoshi.

In related news, the PlayStation 4’s most recent system update improves system stability, and the online UK branch of GameStop is selling PlayStation 4 consoles at £20 cheaper than the console’s Recommended Retail Price.
