Rock Band Blitz Is Being Delisted

Licensing is a tough minefield to navigate, yet Harmonix has been weathering those storms to bring great music to their games. One in particular, Rock Band Blitz , has reached it’s maturity point. Rock Band Blitz released on August 28 in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and the next day for Xbox 360. It took the popular Rock Band franchise and cut out all the bulky peripherals. You played the catchy rhythm game with a regular controller, rather than with the traditional microphone, guitar, and drum controllers.

Five years after it’s release, Rock Band Blitz is being removed from PlayStation and Xbox stores because of the music licensing expiring. Harmonix stated that either on August 28, or possibly before, Rock Band Blitz will no longer be purchasable. If you have the game bought already, it is on your account forever, so you don’t have to worry about uninstalling it. You can always reinstall it later, even though it’s no longer in the store.

For those who are most sad about the songs in Rock Band Blitz disappearing, there is actually some good news. If you already own the game or purchase it before it goes away, you can export the soundtrack to Rock Band 4 . This won’t cost you anything extra, and you’ll get to continue playing the 25 songs from the game. If there’s just one or two of these songs that you’d rather have instead of buying the whole game, you can get them from the Rock Band Music Store individually as well.

Until it disappears, Rock Band Blitz is $14.99 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Not only does it allow you to play the 25 songs native to it, you can also play any other Rock Band tracks on your hard drive. Seems like Harmonix is doing everything they can to make this transition as painless as possible.
