Rocket League Cars’ll Get Prettier with Unlockable Crates

Rocket League Cars’ll Get Prettier with Unlockable Crates

Rocket League has plenty of cosmetic options at this very moment. You can change the car’s look, color scheme, flame pattern, and flag, for example. But, sometime in the future, they’ll be even more unique. Psyonix has confirmed it will add unlockable crates after the Rocket League Championship Series finals, which will put cosmetic content into boxes you can unlock.

This Rocket League news sort of leaked out. A Reddit user named TheSgtPunishment found evidence of a crate system, similar to the ones found in CS:GO or Team Fortress 2. Psyonix responded to verify they will be adding crates and using the money people pay for them to fund prize pools for special events like the RLCS. Everything in the boxes will be cosmetic. There’ll be no Steam Marketplace integration, to prevent gambling. You can even hide them in the game’s options, if you don’t want to see them.

Perhaps the best part about the Rocket League crates is a commitment Psyonix made on Reddit. The game is still going to get regular, free content updates and paid DLC that won’t be randomized. So we’ll still get the extra arenas, items, and modes. This other stuff will just be extra, in case you want to help create prize pools for tournaments and get cool stuff in exchange.
