Rockstar Offers Free GTA to Get Its Launcher on Gamers’ PCs

Guess who’s got a launcher now? It’s Rockstar Games! The company is trying to get into the same game as companies like Valve and Epic Games by offering an extra bit of software for your computer. Perhaps in an effort to ward off ill will, the company is also offering a free GTA game in the hopes that getting a classic title again will convince people they are fine with another storefront on their PC.

The free GTA game is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas . This is the classic game that follows CJ around San Andreas while he tries to figure out what really happened with his mom’s murder and get his gang back together. It was especially unique for the time, as it let people explore Los Santos, Las Ventures, and San Fierro, three locations in the series people love to this day. It will be a free download for users who grab the launcher for a limited time. An exact end date for the promotion wasn’t mentioned, so it is probably best to grab it as soon as possible.

As for the launcher itself, it is fairly rudimentary. It covers games like Bully: Scholarship Edition, GTA III, GTA V, GTA: San Andreas, GTA: Vice City, L.A. Noire, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, and Max Payne and gathers them all together. (You can buy all of them through the launcher except for L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files right now.) The launcher will also let you upload your game saves to a cloud for added preservation and protection or have titles be automatically updated.

Rockstar didn’t note if and when other games could be added or supported. It also didn’t mention if this means a lot of people’s dreams will come true and this launcher could eventually means games like Red Dead Redemption could perhaps get PC ports one day.
