RUMOR: Dota 2 Coming Soon

None

DotA players are going to have a lot to look forward to in the next few months. Aside from the original DotA on the Warcraft 3 platform, League of Legends, a similar game made by the original programming team, is still going strong. Blizzard is also promising a new DotA release sometime in the future, and even Valve is getting in on the game with their Dota 2 project. In fact, according to Valve, we might be seeing Dota 2 come to computers everywhere far sooner than we originally thought.

Recently, Valve rolled out a new Steam update that features an “all-new server and client code” that was supposed to streamline both game publishing and game downloading. Then, in a strange twist, Valve pointedly noted that “soon, Dota 2 will be delivered using it.”

Last we heard, Dota 2 was scheduled for a release sometime in late 2011. Does this mean that we might see it before the winter comes?

We will give you more details on the ongoing development of Dota 2 as they become available. Until then, give your Warcraft 3 DotA maps their final run, because the sequel will be here before you know it.
