We all know that the Xbox 360’s DVD format has restricted the platform in recent years due to its 6.8 GB storage capacity cap. However, a new dashboard update will reportedly make it possible for the Xbox to use more storage on the disc. A standard dual-layer DVD can hold up to 7.95 GB of storage, so it can be assumed that if sources are correct, the update will free up a little more than 1 GB of storage on future releases. If you were wondering what was occupying this space before the update, it was some DRM and a DVD-video partition that contained anti-piracy sectors. Neither of these are really necessary, and they may be downsized or omitted completely in future releases. |
