Sakurai Details Move Properties In Smash Bros.

Series creator Sakurai has been blabbing all over Miiverse about the upcoming Smash Bros . game again. Recently he commented about Dedede’s rocket hammer. It turns out that you can still rack up damage by overcharging the attack. That being said, if you charge it that far, it does an incredible amount of damage and knockback to Dedede himself.

Unfortunately, this move was very underused in the original Brawl. Certain fan mods, like Project M, allowed the rocket hammer to push Dedede forward, in order to be used as a recovery move, or removed the self-damage entirely. Hopefully, Sakurai has altered its properties to make it more enticing to use. According to Sakurai himself, the move is not as powerful as the Knockout Uppercut from Mac.

In addition, Sakurai revealed that the flipper, from Balloon Fight , will not be coming back, much to the chagrin of Melee fans. Instead, the game will be getting a newly redesigned bumper. The bumper is now bright red and has the smash logo right in the middle. It can be placed in mid-air just like it could in Super Smash Bros. Brawl .
