Double Fine Productions, better known as the company that brought us Psychonauts and Brutal Legend, apparently has multiple games in the works. This is according to a recent interview between studio head Tim Schafer and Eurogamer. In the interview Schafer let slip “The new games we’re working on… I can’t really say until the announcement, but there are things about them that are new and different.” This implies that there are at least two games being worked on, with multiples potentially being announced at the same time.  After confirming that these titles wouldn’t be big budget endeavors like Brutal Legend and being asked if they’d instead be XBLA or PSN titles he states “I’m very interested in those kinds of things. Those could be a way of getting creative ideas out there without risking $30 million on them.” He later explains “The great position that we’re in now is we have this engine from Brutal Legend that we invested millions of dollars in, so we can make a smaller game but have it look really nice. We can have all the shaders, effects and tech we built for a bigger game in a smaller game.” Tim Schafer, creative ideas, good tech, and multiple games, sounds like a good combination to me. |
