Shadow Warrior Returns

Shadow Warrior Returns

In our nostalgia-fueled economy, the practice of reviving classic, and even old-but-not-really-classic, games is very much in vogue. Enter the teaser trailer for Shadow Warrior, which comes to us courtesy of Devolver Digital (Serious Sam 3: BFE and Hotline Miami), Flying Wild Hog (Hard Reset), and 3D Realms (creators of the original Shadow Warrior and a little fellow named Duke Nukem ).

The Facebook page promises a “bold reimagining” of the shooter, and proclaims that Lo Wang, the protagonist from the original, is back. We have yet to see any gameplay footage, but marketing is playing up the “over-the-top” nature of the gunplay and the “elegant precision of the powerful katana,” promising an “imaginative take on the classic arcade-style shooter.” There are screenshots, and concept art, which reveal grotesque, masked monsters in settings with an appropriately Eastern aesthetic.

Despite the lack of solid information, the trailer promises a Fall 2013 release. We can probably expect more information very soon.
