SimCity 2000: Special Edition is On the House via Origin

Publisher Electronic Arts has offered up another free game courtesy of its “On the House” program via its Origin client: SimCity 2000: Special Edition . This is more or less the complete version of SimCity 2000 , which was released back in 1995. The Special Edition version was released a year afterwards, in 1996, and is boasted as being the “ ultimate classic Maxis city-building and management simulation , ” according to the game’s product overview on Origin.

It won’t take much to run this old game: 1GB of RAM, a 1.8GHz CPU, a DirectX 7-compatible GPU, 2GB-worth of hard drive and either Windows XP or Windows Vista is the game’s minimum system requirements. With the game’s 139.60Mb install size and mere 88.14 MB download size, it won’t take long for you to play the game after going through the its download and installation process.

SimCity: Special Edition is latest game that has been offered up for free as part of the On the House campaign. Previous titles include Battlefield 3 , Dead Space , Wing Commander III and even Dragon Age: Origins .
