Sony’s Tokyo Game Show keynote address has wrapped up, and a whole host of new PS4 information has been revealed. First of all, Sony confirmed the PS4 and its 3D motion-control camera will support both voice and gesture control l , similar to the Xbox 360 and the Kinect. The company previously confirmed voice control , but the gesture control is a whole new ball game. The PS4 camera has two cameras and four microphones and is able to discern between multiple, different voices in a room. So if you are the type of person who likes to talk to your console like a starship computer, this functionality should appeal to you.
Secondly, Sony revealed that the PlayStation 4 will allow unencrypted HDMI recording. What the flibbity floo does this mean? Well, the PlayStation 3 didn’t allow recording over HDMI. To be able to capture video game footage, users had to use analog formats such as component or composite A/V. In laymen’s terms, it was needlessly difficult to capture HD footage from a PS3 to a PC. The PS4 will not have the same restrictions. This is part of Sony’s new push for a more social console, and while HDMI capture may be a bit too complicated for some of you to wrap your head around, the PS4’s integration with Ustream, Twitch.TV, Facebook, and more as well as its share button and integrated gameplay capture capabilities will make just about any PS4 user a Youtube Let’s Play star.
