Until now, the “console wars” is just something fans and reviewers have been using to describe the endless struggle between Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo to come out on top. However, now it appears as if Sony itself is embracing the idea behind a war of the consoles as they have registered a number of domain names all referring to the mythical console wars. What’s particularly interesting is that it wasn’t Sony’s game division that registered these Console Wars web domains. It was Sony Pictures. That, together with the tag “movie” added to the end of many of these domain names, has made some fans and analysts speculate that Sony is actually making a movie about the console wars.
Of course, the chances of this being a real movie are slim to none. While it would be awesome to see Sony take on the next Wreck-It Ralph , most likely this is just some sort of tie-in marketing plan for Sony’s next-generation console.
