Sony’s PS4 DualShock 4 Controller Will Be PC Compatible

Sony’s PS4 DualShock 4 Controller Will Be PC Compatible

If you have ever tried to connect a DualShock 3 to a PC, you know that it’s an incredibly long an arduous process. In the early days of the PS3, you had to restart your computer in a specific mode just to get the drivers to work. Now, you have to launch separate web-based programs just to allow your controllers to connect. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 controllers simply need to be plugged into a PC in order to work, with no extra fiddling needed.

Luckily, Sony is fixing this problem for its new DualShock 4 controllers. Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said that the controllers would be able to perform basic functions on Window PCs at the console’s launch. This means that the buttons, the D-pad, and the analog stick will work just fine without the need to download any extra software. However, it is unclear if the controller’s more advanced functions, such as its light bar, touch pad, and motion sensing functions, will also be supported.

The PlayStation 4 launch on November 15 in North America and will retail for $399 . It will come with one Dualshock 4 controller.
