Splatoon 2 Leaderboard Hacked to Prove a Point

Splatoon 2 Leaderboard Hacked to Prove a Point

Over the week of July 9, 2018, some tomfoolery happened in the Splatoon 2 X Rank leaderboard. A hacker was able to mess with the game and filled up the entire leaderboard themself. But this wasn’t just a cheater who was not good at what they were doing. This was a deliberate move, as the names on the leaderboard spell out “Please Add Anti Cheat.” This person was calling out Nintendo and even took to the Splatoon Reddit page to comment further.

The hacker made a statement, after providing proof of their interference in Splatoon 2 ’s ranking systems. They said they love the game “very deeply” and that they believe cheaters threaten the wide appeal of Splatoon . They call out Nintendo for supposedly removing security measures from the first Splatoon , then said that they don’t mind if their Switch gets banned for making this statement. A request is made for Nintendo to “make protecting your players the top priority.” In a later edit, the hacker says that they were able to modify their “X Power, affecting their ranking regardless of in-game performance.
