Square-Enix Hints at New Secret of Mana Title

Are all the classic JRPGs dead? Not according to developer Square-Enix, who recently hinted at a brand new Secret of Mana project. Getting into the spirit of the season, Square decided to release a Christmas album featuring songs from its varied RPG library. However, one of the tracks was from an as of yet unreleased game. The track, which was labeled as “future project” comes with a reference to the i>Seiken Densetsu series, which is the Japanese name for Secret of Mana.

The track is composed by Yoko Shimomura. Shimomura is also known for her work on games such as Kingdom Hearts , Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga , and even Street Fighter II . She is currently working on both Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III , so it isn’t too much of a stretch to believe that she is working on a new Secret of Mana title as well.

Other tracks on the Christmas collection come from Saga Frontier II, Parasite Eve: The Third Birthday, Final Fantasy XI, IV, and III , and more, and it includes such composers like Yasonori Mitsuda, Nobuo Uematsu, and Naoshi Mizuta. All of the tracks have been re-mixed and re-composed to have more of a Christmas feel. You can pick up the album off of Square-Enix’s official website.
