You know how Square-Enix has been very busy doing anything BUT making the RPGs they are known for. Sure they are really riding the Final Fantasy series hard, I mean they created three Final Fantasy XIII s. However, they haven’t made many other RPGs. Instead, they realized they can do just as well publishing other studios’ games.
Well not anymore! Well that’s a lie Square-Enix will probably primarily still be a publisher, but they are actually working on a new JRPG title again. Square-Enix is set to announce a brand new console roleplaying game next month, said president Yosuke Matsuda in the latest issue of Famitsu.
“Actually, right now, we’re working on a new RPG specifically for consoles and it isn’t a remake,” Matsuda said. “We’ll start talking about it more in December and go from there.”
He specifically noted that this was not a remake, so not another Kingdom Hearts , and sadly not that Final Fantasy 7 HD we have all been waiting for. But maybe it will be something totally new and different? Or maybe we will finally see a sequel to Chrono Trigger again!
Come on Square-Enix. Don’t disappoint us.
