StarCraft Remastered Confirmed by Blizzard

Blizzard was pretty busy over the weekend. First, the company changed its long-running Battle.net application to a more company-centric brand . Then, the long-rumored StarCraft Remastered project was formally announced. After that, news broke that in anticipation of the remake, the original StarCraf t, still very much for sale through Blizzard, not only will received some compatibility updates and other new features, but also be offered for free going forward.

StarCraft: Remastered is a big-time facelift of both the original StarCraft and its Brood War expansion. It will have 4K visuals, as well as re-recorded dialogue and music. New zooming options will be added, as well as a list of new, modern quality of life changes. StarCraft: Remastered will have cloud saving, custom maps, custom control bindings, and replays.

Meanwhile, the original StarCraft , branded by Blizzard as the StarCraft Anthology , will be updated and made free to play. The game will get bug fixes, control customization, and a spectator mode. New anti-cheating software and compatibility with modern versions of Windows are also included in the update.
