According to a press release issued today, BioWare’s sci-fi MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic is getting a free-to-play option this fall. Players will be able to level all the way up to 50 without dropping a dime, claims the press release, though this comes “with certain restrictions.” Matthew Bromberg, GM of BioWare Austin, threw his vote of confidence behind the move, saying, “Players want flexibility and choice. The subscription-only model presented a major barrier for a lot of people who wanted to become part of The Old Republic universe.” ![]()
In celebration of this new payment model, the game will be going on sale for $14.99 in August. By Josh Wirtanen |
