The Best Deals on the Nintendo eShop This Week: May 15, 2025 to May 22, 2025
Like the other major digital storefronts, the Nintendo eShop currently has some enticing sales running, with many of the best deals available seeing titles drop to their lowest-ever prices. Worth noting is the ongoing Ubisoft publisher sale, which includes games from across the studio's portfolio (two of which are highlighted as part of this list). The Switch 2's release is right around the corner, and Nintendo has committed to making sure that several digital and physical Switch games will be backward compatible on the new hardware at launch. So any games you pick up right now are likely to be playable on the next generation of Nintendo hardware.
Bramble: The Mountain King
- Release Date — April 27, 2023
- Publisher — Merge Games
- Developer — Dimfrost Studio
- Genre — Adventure, Platformer
- Review Aggregate Score — 80% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $4.49 (Normally $29.99, 85% off)
When I first played Bramble: The Mountain King, I went into it expecting a light and breezy adventure game and was completely blown away by the strength of both its narrative and gameplay. This dark, gothic, fairy tale-like adventure game has some light combat and puzzle solving, but is ultimately all about its excellent atmosphere and storytelling, and it's an experience that sticks with you long after rolling credits. The title is currently down to its lowest ever price on the Switch and is an essential for any player who enjoys narrative-led adventure games like Limbo or Inside.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
- Release Date — October 20, 2022
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Developer — Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Paris
- Genre — Turn-Based Tactics
- Review Aggregate Score — 85% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $23.99 (Normally $59.99, 60% off)
Don't let the presence of Mario and the Rabbids fool you — Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is, hands-down, one of the best turn-based tactics games of the last several years. Like its predecessor, Sparks of Hope makes great use of its characters and license to deliver some truly hard-hitting tactical combat that belies its more family-friendly appearance. And while it's admittedly not quite as challenging as, say, XCOM 2, it's obvious that a lot of love and care went into making sure that Sparks of Hope was a turn-based tactics game that surpassed the already excellent Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Sparks of Hope regularly goes on sale, and it's back down to its record low of just $24.
Andro Dunos II
- Release Date — March 24, 2022
- Publisher — Just for Games, PixelHeart
- Developer — Picroinne Soft
- Genre — Scrolling Shooter
- Review Aggregate Score — 78% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $1.99 (Normally $19.99, 90% off)
The original Andro Dunos has long been considered one of the greatest shooting games of its time, so to see the title get a fan-made sequel 30 years later is an amazing full-circle moment. Accordingly, Andro Dunos II is a worthwhile follow-up to one of the great 16-bit shmups, and it belongs in the library of any Switch owner who's a fan of the genre. The Switch is arguably the best modern platform when it comes to shooting games, and at just $1.99, Andro Dunos II is an easy pick-up. Heck, I might even grab this one myself.
Red Dead Redemption
- Release Date — August 17, 2023
- Publisher — Rockstar Games
- Developer — Double Eleven, Rockstar San Diego
- Genre — Action, Open-World
- Review Aggregate Score — 83% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $29.99 (Normally $49.99, 40% off)
The "remaster" of Red Dead Redemption isn't quite as noticeable as some fans might've hoped for, but it's also a testament to how well the original game holds up that it still looks and plays as good as it does, even with its minimal additions and retouches. Better yet, Red Dead Redemption on Switch includes the excellent Undead Nightmare expansion that's practically essential for the full RDR experience, and it's currently 40% off its normal asking price. I already own Red Dead Redemption on Switch and can confirm that it also runs incredibly well on the console and looks great even when playing in handheld mode.
Nobody Saves the World
- Release Date — April 14, 2022
- Publisher — DrinkBox Studios
- Developer — DrinkBox Studios
- Genre — Action RPG
- Review Aggregate Score — 83% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $8.74 (Normally $24.99, 65% off)
DrinkBox Studios is a team that seemingly can do no wrong, as evidenced by its production of one excellent game after another. The studio's most recent title, Nobody Saves the World, is a criminally underrated action RPG in which players have a staggering number of different roles they can take on thanks to the protagonist's shape-shifting/transformation ability. Like both the Guacamelee games and the equally underrated Severed, Nobody Saves the World features some pitch-perfect combat and gorgeous art direction, and it's currently less than $10 for roughly 30 hours of nonstop fun.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Complete Edition
- Release Date — January 18, 2024
- Publisher — Ubisoft
- Developer — Ubisoft Montpellier
- Genre — Metroidvania
- Review Aggregate Score — 88% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $24.99 (Normally $49.99, 50% off)
The latest game in the Prince of Persia franchise is both the best the series has been in years and one of the better modern Metroidvanias. It's a shame that more people haven't played Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, because it sits right alongside games like Hollow Knight and Nine Sols as one of the best newer entries in the Metroidvania genre and has some of the most satisfying and sublime precision platforming this side of Celeste. Both the standard and complete editions of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown are currently on sale for 50% off, but it's worth going ahead and picking up the complete edition just to get the excellent DLC.
30XX
- Release Date — September 9, 2023
- Publisher — Batterystaple Games
- Developer — Batterystaple Games
- Genre — Action Roguelike
- Review Aggregate Score — 82% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $9.99 (Normally $19.99, 50% off)
Action roguelikes are practically a dime a dozen, which paradoxically makes it both difficult to find new games that stand out and highlights the ones that do something truly different. One of the more noteworthy entries into the subgenre was the Mega Man X-roguelite 20XX, and its sequel, 30XX, is even better. Pretty much exactly what it sounds like, 30XX is what you'd get if you combined the side-scrolling action-platforming gameplay of Mega Man X and injected it into a procedurally generated roguelike, and it's currently back down to its record low of $9.99. Also of note is that 20XX is on sale, which means you can grab the entire series (containing hundreds of hours of gameplay) for less than $15.
Ravenswatch: Legendary Edition
- Release Date — January 23, 2025
- Publisher — Nacon
- Developer — Passtech Games
- Genre — Action Roguelike
- Review Aggregate Score — 84% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $17.49 (Normally $34.99, 50% off)
The top-down action roguelike has become so synonymous with the genre since the release of Hades that they should almost be called "Hades-likes" at this point, but Ravenswatch is a game that fits that bill while still offering up something unique. Taking control of an interesting and varied selection of literary characters as they beat back a rising eldritch horror, Ravenswatch features some excellent art direction and very satisfying combat that's honestly a little bit more challenging than what players will find in a lot of other action roguelikes. And while the standard edition of Ravenswatch isn't currently on sale, you can grab the Legendary Edition for less right now.
Blasphemous II
- Release Date — August 23, 2023
- Publisher — Team17
- Developer — The Game Kitchen
- Genre — Metroidvania
- Review Aggregate Score — 84% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $14.99 (normally $29.99, 50% off)
Both of the Blasphemous games are excellent, and both of them happen to currently be on sale on the Nintendo eShop. Ultimately, though, we've decided to highlight Blasphemous II thanks to it being a slightly better Metroidvania, while the first game might be a better 2D Soulslike. Blasphemous II's difficulty curve is also a good bit more accessible, better acclimating players to the challenges that they'll face later on in the game by never throwing more than the player can handle early on. Both Blasphemous and its sequel are worth picking up at full price, so grabbing them while they're half-off is an easy decision to make.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
- Release Date — October 8, 2018
- Publisher — DrinkBox Studios
- Developer — DrinkBox Studios
- Genre — Metroidvania
- Review Aggregate Score — 87% (Generally Favorable)
- Price — $3.74 (Normally $14.99, 75% off)
Sure, there are plenty of great Metroidvania titles in the Switch library. A few of the best are already on this list thanks to the current eShop deals. But few games in the genre are as downright fun as Guacamelee!, which feels both wholly original and like a love letter to the Metroidvania genre's past. Truly, I don't think it's possible to play through Guacamelee! without having a smile plastered across your face the whole time, and the first game in the series is currently down to less than $4. And if you haven't played it yet, buy it now and thank us later.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition
- Release Date — November 11, 2021
- Publisher — Rockstar Games
- Developer — Grove Street Games, Rockstar Games
- Genre — Action, Open-World
- Review Aggregate Score — 46% (Generally Unfavorable)
- Price — $23.99 (Normally $59.99, 60% off)
At the time of its launch back in 2021, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was a disgrace to the franchise's legacy. However, since that initial rocky launch, Rockstar Games itself has gone back and smoothed out most of the collection's rough edges, bringing it up to the level of quality you'd expect from a compilation housing three of the most important games of the 6th generation. As it stands, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy is the only way to play these PS2 classics on the Switch, and in its current state, it's absolutely worth the $24 asking price. Before Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out, it's worth going back and revisiting these classic open-world titles, especially Vice City.
