If you were hoping the other VR headsets would be cheaper than the Oculus Rift, prepare for a reality check. They’re not. The HTC Vive price is here and it’s actually more expensive. It will cost $800. As a refresher, the Oculus Rift will be $600.
People who get the HTC Vive won’t just get the virtual reality headset. it will also include two Lighthouse sensors, the two controllers needed to play the games, and copies of Fantastic Contraption and Job Simulator. So at least you’re getting quite a bit of stuff for your money. You can also use Bluetooth to connect to your phone and take calls.
The HTC Vive will be available to pre-order on February 29. The exact release date hasn’t been announced, but it should ship sometime in April.
