Top 7 Canceled Games We REALLY Miss

Top 7 Canceled Games We REALLY Miss

This was quite a week for gamers, wasn’t it? We not only learned Platinum Games’ Xbox One and PC exclusive, Scalebound , was canceled, but discovered we missed out on N-Space’s Mega Bloks Halo for the Xbox 360. Both of those games sounded so cool! We would have absolutely played them! They’re two of many canceled games in the industry’s history, so this week we’re going to go over seven titles we wish we could have owned.

Phantom Dust

Phantom Dust

This is a canceled game that we’re going to get, but not in the exact way we wanted. Back in 2004, one of the coolest Xbox exclusives was Phantom Dust . It was a great strategy game with online multiplayer, but now you can’t really enjoy it the way it deserves. A remake from Darkside Studios was announced at E3 2014, but Darkside has since shut down. We’re supposedly going to get an Xbox One remaster this year, but we really wanted a bigger and better remake!

Project: Knoxville

Project: Knoxville

Survival games are great, but the problem is that we’re usually trying to stay alive on our own! Games like Don’t Starve aside, they tend to be solo experiences. Project: Knoxville eschewed that by allowing people to attempt to survive in ten to twenty minute rounds. You weren’t alone, but accompanied by other players you could either aid or betray. It was up to you, though some challenges did require you to cooperate. Sadly, Press Play, the developer, shut down last year, so we’ll never see Project: Knoxville on our Xbox Ones.

Mega Bloks Halo

Mega Bloks Halo

I don’t play Halo , but not because it doesn’t appeal to me. The lore is fascinating and it’s a great game. It’s because I’m not good at its genre. Mega Bloks Halo would have been a more inclusive spin-off. So many people could have enjoyed this game where we could have customized vehicles, used every weapon, and fought aliens together either in a campaign or horde-like Besiege mode. We should have gotten this Xbox 360 game!

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun

The Legacy of Kain series has gotten the shaft over the last few years. The first three games were great, 2002’s Blood Omen 2 was fine, and 2003’s Legacy of Kain: Defiance had some serious issues. Since then, all we had was the Nosgoth multiplayer spin-off, which never made it out of an open beta. Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun could have redeemed and resurrected the series! Except Square Enix canceled this PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PC game, with George Kelion, a community manager , saying, “… LOK: Dead Sun just wasn’t the right game, at the right time.” Any time is the right time for a new Legacy of Kain installment!

Scalebound

Scalebound

This one really hurts, because it’s just so fresh. For years, we’ve heard Platinum Games was going to make Scalebound , an action-RPG where a man and his dragon are irrevocably bound and must fight enemies, for the Xbox One. It’s an idea Hideki Kamiya has had for years and something he’s wanted to make since before Bayonetta . And now, it’s gone. I can’t be the only one who wanted to soar through the skies with, fight alongside, and care for a dragon.

Star Wars 1313

Star Wars 1313

Boba Fett is one of the coolest Star Wars characters, if not the coolest one. He deserves more attention and adoration. We should have opportunities to explore his world and fight as him. And, at one point, we were going to with Star Wars 1313 . It was going to be a darker, grittier game focused on bounty hunting in Coruscant. Except in 2013, Disney stopped developing all LucasArts games, which included this PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC title. No Boba Fett bounty hunting for us.

Silent Hills

Silent Hills

It doesn’t matter that Resident Evil VII looks like it’ll do a great job of scratching our horror itch this year. Or that Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro, and Norman Reedus are now all working on Death Stranding together. We wanted Silent Hills . We loved P.T. No matter how much time passes, we’ll wish we could have played it on our PlayStation 4s.
