Top 7 Games of 2019 (We Wanna Play NOW)

Top 7 Games of 2019 (We Wanna Play NOW)

When a game gets a release date, it is an exciting time. Suddenly, something people have wanted for a while gets a little more real! It goes from an ephemeral project to a possible product. Everything is sunshine and rainbows. That is, until a delay is announced. Even when you know it is for the greater good, it can hurt. So let’s harden our hearts and look over the seven games we really wanted in 2018, but won’t get until 2019.

Code Vein

Code Vein

Do you like Dark Souls ? How do you feel about God Eater ? Are you a fan of anime-style games? Code Vein certainly seems like it could bring all three of those things to the table. People were super psyched when it seemed like the game would be arriving on September 28, 2018. That is, until a delay was announced and it was bumped back to 2019.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead

Overkill’s The Walking Dead

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is a game in a tricky position. It was announced back in August 2014. Then, it kind of flitted in and out of the public eye. At the end of 2017, it received a Fall 2018 release window. Then, in June 2018, we were told it would arrive on November 6, 2018 in North America. Things seemed good! That is, until we learned in August 2018 that console copies had been pushed back to February 2019. But hey! It will still show up on the PC on November 6, 2018!

Shenmue III

Shenmue III

Shenmue III is a game people probably thought would never get made. A successful Kickstarter started in 2015 made it possible. But when would we see it? The crowdfunding page suggested a December 2017 release window. Except in June 2017, it was delayed until late 2018. Then, in May 2018, we learned the new release window was 2019. Gamescom 2018 brought with it an August 27, 2019 release date. Let’s see if it sticks with it this time!

Anthem

Anthem

When are we supposed to see Anthem ? Well, the Destiny -like from BioWare and EA originally had a Fall 2018 launch window. That was according to the E3 2017 presentation. That didn’t exactly work out, so it was delayed until early 2019 in January 2018. But the final blow arrived in June 2018, when it was given a February 22, 2019 release date. Good thing February tends to be a slow month!

Days Gone

Days Gone

Honest show of hands, here. Who is excited about Days Gone ? I admit, it looks pretty cool. But I think I would be more enthusiastic if it was not getting pushed back and playing second fiddle to other, cooler looking games. It originally received a 2018 release window in December 2017. Except that did not stick. It was pushed to 2019 in March 2018. Let’s hope it doesn’t change again.

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3

Will we ever see Crackdown 3 ? It might be a valid question. The game was supposed to be released in 2016. But every year, the dream gets further away. At one point, it was supposed to be an Xbox One X launch date and appear on November 7, 2017. In August 2017, we were hearing sometime in 2018. At E3 2018, it was given a February 2019 release window. Could it really make it this time? We will have to wait and see. Thoughts and prayers, folks!

Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III has been in development until E3 2013. Can you imagine that? Yet even still, Square Enix was pretty good about not teasing people with to many release dates. At D23 2017, the game was given a 2018 release window. For a long time, it stuck to that! It was only in June 2018 that the final release date of January 29, 2019 was provided. At least we don’t have to wait too much longer for it!
