TV Show, G4, Shuts Down at Month’s End

TV Show, G4, Shuts Down at Month’s End

G4, an American TV show whose content originally focused on the world of video games, will be officially shutting down by the end of the month, according to the official blog of Great Plains Communications.

NBC Universal, the parent company behind G4, officially pulled the plug on the channel a couple of weeks ago, back in the beginning of November. According to Great Plains Communications’ press release on the matter, the closure of G4 didn’t come as much of a surprise to the NBC Universal network, as it stopped funding the show back in 2013.

Talk started circulating at the time regarding whether or not G4’s replacement would be Esquire. However, according to the press release, G4 will be replaced by a different channel entirely, but details of which were not mentioned.

Since the channel will be shutting down, G4 will not be running any new shows until it’s pulled from the air. Instead, the channel will continue to rerun certain shows, such as Lost , X-play , Ninja Warrior and Heroes , along with the occasional movie.

G4 will be removed from Great Plains Communications’ lineup, effective as of Sunday, November 30. The company has apologised for this, and has also reminded viewers that the decision to cut G4 came down from NBC Universal, and that Great Plains Communications must abide by its contractual obligations with its parent network.

NBC Universal has finally pulled the plug on the G4 channel. This is not a huge shock to the network, as they stopped putting further investment into the channel back in 2013 when there was talk of it being replaced by Esquire. The replacement fell upon a different channel. Though, it was decided that G4 would not air any new shows, but rather continue to show reruns of LOST, X-Play, Ninja Warrior, and Heroes, accompanied by an occasional movie, ” Great Plains Communications wrote in its press release.

Great Plains Communications will be removing G4 from the channel lineup, effective November 30, 2014. We apologize for the inconvenience, but would like to remind you that this was a decision made by NBC Universal and we must abide by their contractual requirements.

We’ll bring you more news on this should further information reach our ears.
