Valve Nukes Our Half-Life Dreams Again

Valve Nukes Our Half-Life Dreams Again

None

Gamers have practically been begging Valve to release another Half-Life title since Episode Two hit the shelves in 2007. After all, the developer announced a third episode nearly 5 years ago.

But, when Valve released Wheatley’s acceptance speech from the VGAs, gamers started scouring it for clues about a potential Half-Life release. And, while some of them swear that they’ve found evidence for an Alternate Reality Game featuring characters from the Half-Life franchise in Wheatley’s speech, Valve has officially put the kibosh on the rumor.

“You are being trolled,” insists Valve writer Chet Faliszek. “There is no ARG. Wheatley’s speech was set in Portal 2 fiction—that is all. There has been no directive from Gabe to leak anything. That is all false. I just want to say this so there is no confusion. This is the community trolling the community nothing more. While it is nice to see people excited about anything HL, I hate seeing people be trolled like this.”

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Valve isn’t working on another HL title, but it does mean that fans have become a little too excitable. After all, we should be getting used to Valve destroying our dreams, but we keep looking for reasons to think that the developer still loves us.

Valve will release another Half-Life title eventually, and when it happens, I just hope we don’t have a Duke Nukem Forever situation on our hands.
