Warren Spector Gets Awarded

Warren Spector Gets Awarded

None

This year, Warren Spector will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement award at the Game Developer’s Choice Awards. The award is meant to recognize “the career and achievements of a developer who has made an indelible impact on the craft of game development and games as a whole,” and was previously given to Peter Molyneux, the man behind Fable, as well as Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima, and Sid Meier.

Spector is probably most famous for his work on Deus Ex, the award winning PC action/RPG, but he has since moved on to complete several different projects including Disney’s Epic Mickey. Most people don’t know that he actually started as an editor for Steve Jackson games, which focuses primarily on pencil-and-paper RPGs. Other Warren Spector projects include titles in the Ultima and Wing Commander series, as well as System Shock and Thief: The Dark Project. In addition, Spector has worked on the Toon role-playing game and is even working on the DuckTales comic.

He is certainly a man of many talents—a very deserving recipient of the award.
