Game of the Year 2016

Overwatch was one of the most popular games here at CheatCC this year, so it should come as no surprise that we consider it our game of the year. While it’s a team-based shooter, it isn’t restrictive or discouraging. This is one of those rare games where it’s gorgeous, plays well, and appeals to pretty much everybody. Want only one game from 2016? Make it Overwatch.

As popular as Overwatch was among CheatCC’s staff, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End sure gave it a run for its money. As it rightfully should. This was the end of an era. Nathan Drake’s story is complete, and it ended with a bang. Questions were answered. Endings were doled out. Crash Bandicoot made a cameo. You couldn’t lose on this last voyage with Drake, and it’ll continue to provide joy into 2017 with its online multiplayer mode.

Honorable Mention
Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV is a game that was 10 years in the making. It went from Final Fantasy Versus XIII to this, and my has it grown. This could have been a Duke Nukem Forever situation, where a prolonged stay in development hell ruined the game, but it’s shining bright. While it couldn’t topple Uncharted 4 for our runner-up spot, it came away with enough votes for our honorable mention. Well done, Noctis and friends.
