2. Expandable Memory? What's That?
Both the PSP and the 3DS/DSi have special slots that allow you to save games directly to them, and switch them out (or upgrade your memory card) if you fill it with games. If you fill your iPad with games, then you either have to start deleting things or buy a newer, more expensive iPad. In two generations of iPads Apple hasn't managed to put something basic like SD card or memory stick functionality in one of the best-selling tablet handhelds out there. Heck, even cheap MP3 players have expandable memory, so why not the iPad?
1. It's Basically a Big iPhone
If you already have an iPhone (or even an iPod Touch, for that matter), then you already have an iPad. You can even call it an iPad Mini if you're so inclined. All of the features are the same, and the fact is that if you want to game on the go, the iPhone/iPod is better for portable gaming because...it fits in your pocket! The iPhone/iPod is also half the price of the iPad. Although playing Angry Birds on an iPad is admittedly fun, the big screen doesn't really change the experience, and if anything, limits play value, as I don't really want to lug around a big expensive tablet to play game on when all I need is a pocket-sized $200 device which will do the same thing.
The iPad may be the most popular portable gadget on the market today, but that doesn't mean you should purchase it. And that goes for a lot of other gadgets too. Is there anything else we can possibly hate on? Find out next week!
