August 13, 2007 - Welcome to 2020, where the current war never existed and we find ourselves instead engulfed in World War III. United States and the European Union have just signed the Space-Land-Air Missile Shield Treaty. When tested, it shields us against 100% of missiles fired against it. It is, in a sense, perfect. It will end the threat of a nuclear war on all accounts. We've only forgotten one thing. We left Russia out
EndWar is new age and the real-deal. No longer will you play from the "sandbox" (top-down) view. Instead, we see through the unit we've selected via the "commander's-eye view." You now manage a platoon of soldiers and can no longer send out one scout as many other war games allow. There's no magic of any type, and all guns already exist and are in use or prototype. All soldiers operate based on individual A.I.; more experienced soldiers will have different instincts when faced in battle, but all soldiers will have the intelligence to take cover and fire periodically through windows and over hoods. If a soldier is shot, they'll be dragged to safety as they should be. If you call for reinforcements, they'll not come easily. They must be transported to arrive to the scene in real-time. When they arrive, they'll repel from the chopper just like you'd see done in war. A.I. has been based on the real thing; when they take the house, they'll cover the door and each other as they advance through to take their positions.
One of the many beauties of EndWar is the voice command system. We're now able to shout our commands at the units and they will respond accordingly. All mysticism has been avoided. Ubisoft aims to make this game as real as possible. You may see advance weapons, but we are assured they exist at least in prototype. This means we won't look like Star Wars firing red, green, and blue lights at one another and we won't have killer zombies or Cyborgs as our strong units. Your strength, however, may still come from space via the Joint Strike Force's (USA) "Rods from God" where we achieve a nuclear blast without lasting effects. As in all war games, each faction has their strengths and weaknesses. USA boasts the Joint Strike Force (JSF), European Union hosts the European Enforcers Corps (EEC), and Russia is home to the Spetsnaz Guard Brigade (SPZ). Each with their own strengths and weaknesses' varied between speed, firepower, technology, size, power, and more.
In EndWar, we look forward to the same 'idea' of the old war games with a very new spin on the whole situation. Made to be more believable, Ubisoft has sacrificed nothing to make this game more realistic. In EndWar we are able to view 1000+ characters and vehicles in real-time on your screen all at once. We now can see more of the truth of war and the damage it does all at one time. Still in the early stages, EndWar is already proved to be a fantastic original idea built on grounds of amazing games before it.
