Description: A large, variable wing, carrier-based fighter that symbolizes aircraft carrier transported planes. It combines stability with maneuverability regardless of velocity thanks to its digitally controlled variable sweep wings and surpassing speed performance. The “Super Tomcat” also boasts of long-range counterattack capability that can defeat a large number of incoming enemy fighters.

F-15C Eagle
Type: Fighter

Description: An all-weather, large scale fighter. Boasting a phenomenal maximum speed even among fighters, it has an abundance of ordnance loaded on board. Named the “Eagle,” it has such a high level of stability performance that it holds the record for recovering after losing a wing in battle.

F-16C Fighting Falcon

Description: A tractable, lightweight fighter with well-balanced maneuverability and stability. It has an exceptionally lightweight and aerodynamic blended wing body, and though a single-engine plane, it is equipped with a powerful engine. Called the “Fighting Falcon”, its relatively low cost and high power are the reason it has been adopted by air forces all over the world. To date, more than 4,000 of this best-selling model have been manufactured.

F-22A Raptor

Description: This ultimate stealth fighter is the pride of the U.S. Armed Forces. Aside from flight performance, it has top class acceleration performance and a two-dimensional thrust deflect nozzle which also gives it outstanding maneuverability. Its preemptive strike power, called “first lock, first shoot, first kill,” is fitting for an aircraft with the name “Raptor,” the master of the skies.

MiG-21bis Fishbed
Type: Fighter

Description: A fighter created by the former Soviet Union in the pursuit of small size, light weight, and low cost. Its outdated electronic equipment and weapons equipping performance are unreliable, but its light weight gives it excellent speed performance. However, stability during high speed rolls is low, so a high level of flight experience is required. Called by the NATO codename “Fishbed”, more than 10,000 of this hugely popular fighter were deployed by former Eastern Bloc nations.

MiG-29A Fulcrum
Type: Fighter

Description: A medium-sized master fighter developed as the successor to the MiG-21. In a one-on-one dogfight, it has strong maneuvering capabilities due to its refined aerodynamics. Though it is similar in shape to the Su-27, which was developed arond the same time, it was built smaller in size since it is used in close proximity to front-line bases. Its NATO codename is “Fulcrum”.

Su-24MP Fencer
Type: Fighter

Description: A large scale fighter that is also noted for its use as an electronic warfare aircraft. It can be equipped with an ECM (electronic countermeasures) pod that can scramble the enemy’s missile guidance. The variable wings provide increased shift stability and allow for stable flight at any speed level. Its NATO codename is “Fencer.” It has enhanced endurance compared to other fighter planes because of its heavy armor.

Su-33 Flanker-D
Type: Fighter

Description: Using the Su-27 as a base, this carrier-based aircraft was developed for practical use by the Navy. Its speed capability is slightly lower than other fighter craft of the same generation, but it boasts excellent turning performance. Its NATO codename is “Flanker-D.” The main and tail wings can be folded up to accomodate the storage space available on an aircraft carrier.

Su-35 Flanker-E
Type: Fighter

Description: The successor to the Su-27, a master aircraft that boasts menacing turning performance. A “Flanker” series aircraft possessing top class air battle fighting ability and equipped with an independent, two-dimensional thrust deflection nozzle. The NATO codename for it is “Flanker-E.” A machine that can handle battles not only over short distances, but long distances as well.

Su-47 Berkut
Type: Fighter
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, QAAM, SAAM, Flares
Description: An ultra-maneuverable fighter that is strong in one-on-one dogfights. The main, canard, and tail wings that make it a three surface aircraft are a prominent feature. If its unique aerodynamics can be mastered, it exhibits outstanding turning performance that provides an edge going into battle. It is nicknamed “Berkut.”

Typhoon
Type: Fighter
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, 4AAM, 6AAM, Flares
Description: A state-of-the-art, superior fighter that was developed through a collaboration between Great Britain, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Excellent maneuverability and multi lock-on weaponry make dogfights against numerous opponents its speciality. The combination of the canard wing, called a close-coupled delta, and the delta wing give it great aerodynamics and agility befitting the name “Typhoon”.

F-15E Strike Eagle
Type: Multirole
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, 4AAM, UGB, 4AGM, Flares
Description: A fighter bomber with the air-to-air combat ability of the F-15C and additional air-to-ground capabilities. Able to be equipped with a diverse array of armaments, including anti-aircraft, ground attack, multi lock-on missiles and aerial bombs, it is capable of dealing with a variety of situations. Called the “Strike Eagle”, though the exterior is almost the same as the F-15C, it provides various ground attack improvements.

F-16F Fighting Falcon

Description: The successor to the F-16C. Various improvements have been made in order to export it outside the United States. Air-to-ground battle capability has been improved by an upgrade to its gun control. Air resistance is controlled by the conformal tank system, which extends flight range and makes it adaptable to any kind of air-to-air or air-to-ground missions. It is called by the same name as the F-16C, “Fighting Falcon”.

F/A-18F Super Hornet
Type: Multirole

Description: Whether it’s air-to-air or air-to-ground, this carrier based fighter is capable of handling a wide variety of missions. An easy-to-handle aircraft that boasts stable maneuverability at any speed. Equipped with long-range attack weapons, it’s well suited for pre-emptive attacks. Nicknamed the “Super Hornet”.

F-35B Lightning II
Type: Multirole

Description: A multi-purpose fighter produced using a JSF (Joint Strike fighter) design. While able to use a variety of weapons in air-to-air and air-to-ground combat, the procurement cost for this stealth fighter is more manageable than the F-22A. In accordance with its utility, there are multiple types available. The B type utilized by the U.S. Marine Corps is STOVL (short takeoff/vertical landing) compatible. Its nickname is “Lightning II”.

JAS-39C Gripen
Type: Multirole
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, QAAM, 4AAM, RKTL, Flares
Descriptions: A true multi-role fighter employed by five countries, including the Swedish Air Force. Features include a small airframe size, short-range takeoff ability, and the potential to equip a diverse array of weapons. With these capabilities, it can use a highway to make a sortie from a hangar dug into a mountain, and it can easily handle a variety of missions by capitalizing on its effortless maneuverability. Its formal name is “JAS-39C”. JAS stands for Jakt (fighter), Attack, and Spaning (reconnaissance) because the aircraft is able to perform all these roles, and to switch between all three roles in the air. Its nickname is “Gripen (griffin).”

Mirage 2000-5
Type: Multirole
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, 4AAM, 4AGM, LAGM, Flares
Description: Developed as an advanced air force aircraft, this tailless delta style, small combat aircraft is in service in several countries including the French Air Force. Its light weight results in excellent acceleration performance. The most recent model, the Mirage 2000-5, has improved mulitple targeting capabilities from its RDY radar, and it is also furnished with such features as a modernized cockpit gauge, all of which rapidly elevate its combat potential. Its nickname is “Mirage”.

PAK-FA
Type: Multirole
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, 4AAM, QAAM, EW1, Flares
Description: A cutting-edge stealth fighter developed from a combination of Russian Air Force technologies. It boasts top class air battle power thanks to the outstanding maneuverability it gets from its thrust deflection nozzle and its low detection properties in regards to radar. PAK-FA is an abbreviation of the Russian word for “Future Airborne Complex – Fronline Aviation.” Because it is a prototype, many details such as on-board armaments are shrouded in secrecy.

Rafale M
Type: Multirole

Description: This high performance, omnirole, carrier-based aircraft is the pride of the French Navy. Possessing high level acceleration and turning performance, and equipped with a large quantity of arms including multi lock-on, air-to-air missiles, and long-range dispenser weapons, this craft plays a large role in any kind of air-to-ground or air-to-air mission. Called by the name “Rafale (squall),” its elegant delta and canard wings, and superb aerodynamically shaped air-intake, are distinguishing characteristics.

A-10A Thunderbolt II
Type: Attacker
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, 4AGM, RKTL, Flares
Description: An attack aircraft with heavy armor that provides close range ground support with overwhelming firepower and durability. Well supplied with weaponry such as a 30mm heavy machine gun and multiple lock-on ground missiles, it possesses outstanding ground attack capabilities. Very stable at slow speeds, its speciality is precision ground strafing for a long period of time during an attack approach. Known as the “Thunderbolt,” its notable features include unswept wings that generate plenty of lift at slow speeds, the high placement of its engine which makes it resistant to counterattacks from the ground, and its reinforced armor plating.

F-117A Nighthawk
Type: Attacker
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, GPB, LAGM, Flares
Description: The historic first stealth attack aircraft which specializes in covert bombing. Because of its detailed airframe design which suppresses target detection, speed and maneuverability are limited. Instead, it is able to conduct pinpoint bombardments with long range ground missiles and guided bombs without being detected by enemy radar nets. In order to reflect and absorb radar waves, it uses a unique airframe shape and coating configured to make a flat surface. Called the “Nighthawk,” more than 1,200 sorties were made with them in the 1991 Gulf War without losing a single plane, launching it into the spotlight.

F-2A
Type: Attacker

Description: A battle support attack aircraft deployed by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It emulates the F-16C in airframe shape, but it is equipped with the latest electronic equipment while having the same easy handling and a complete upgrade of maneuvering performance. In order to be prepared for threats from the sea, its anti-warship battle ability is given special consideration. The airframe was remodeled and developed jointly by Japan and the United States, and it is also called the “Viper Zero”.

Su-25TM Frogfoot
Type: Attacker
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, UGB, MGP, Flares
Description: An all-weather attack aircraft developed by the Soviet Union using the same design concept as the A-10A. Heavily armored with titanium alloy and possessing top class endurance, it is also equipped with a large number of armaments. With the NATO codename “Frogfoot,” it is an older generation aircraft, but is still a flagship attack aircraft in the Russian Air Force due to its all-weather strategic ability from its on-board radar.

Su-34 Fullback
Type: Attacker
Weapons: Machine Gun, Missiles, 4AGM, GPB, Flares
Description: This parallel two-seater attack aircraft is the successor to the Su-27. Boasting the best maneuvering performance among attackers, its agile performance is easily comparable to fighters of the same class. It has an increased survival rate because of its strong armor. Its NATO codename is “Fullback”. Since it is intended for use in extended attack missions, the rear cockpit is equipped with a bathroom and a makeshift kitchen.

B-1B Lancer
Type: Bomber
Weapons: GPB, MUGB, Flares
Description: A strategic bombing fighter able to penetrate enemy territory at supersonic speed and drop a large quantity of bombs to gain complete control. Taking advantage of the variable wings that allow for stable turning at any altitude, it slips through radar nets with low altitude flying. With its sharp exterior, strike power, and maneuverability unexpected in such a large machine, it is well-suited to the name “Lancer”.

B-2 Spirit
Type: Bomber
Weapons: GPB, MUGB, Flares
Description: A stealthy strategic bomber that is able to penetrate enemy territory without being detected by radar and can carry out large-scale bombing raids. A flying wing aircraft, it has no tail which makes it more difficult for radar to detect. Its maneuvering performance has been exchanged for increased stealth performance, so it can penetrate radar nets more safely. The number of manufactured craft is extremely low, so each individual craft is given a unique name comprised of the nickname “Spirit” and the name of a geographic territory.

AH-64D Apache Longbow
Type: Attack Helicopter
Weapons: Machine Gun, Rockets, 4AGM, AAM
Description: This ultimate attack helicopter is the pride of the U.S. Army. In addition to excellent maneuverability, its 30mm chain gun gives it power firing potential. The Longbow Radar attached above the main rotor enhances its ability to make use of missiles in all kinds of weather. Nicknamed the “Apache Longbow”.

Mi-24 Hind
Type: Attack Helicopter
Weapons: Machine Gun, Rockets, AAM, 4AGM
Description: An assault and attack helicopter that is a mainstay of the Russian Army. Highly durable because of its heavy armor, it is also appealing because of the abundance of weaponry loaded on board. The unique rounded shape of the nose is a notable feature and it is referred to by the NATO codename “Hind”. In addition to anti-tank combat and close air support, it has a wide variety of uses including the transportation of military personnel and goods.

AC-130U Spooky
Type: Gunship
Weapons: 25mm Gatling Gun, 40mm Auto Cannon, 120mm Mortar
Description: Able to destroy enemy forces with heavy armor and tremendous firepower, this is an attack aircraft used for localized suppression. It is equipped with three types of armaments on the left side of the aircraft: a 25mm Gatling gun, a 40mm auto cannon, and a 120mm mortar, allowing it to carry out ground support attacks adapted for any target. The most recent model, the AC-130U, is called “Spooky” and it has been put to use in all types of military operations starting with the Gulf War and the Iraq War.
