Amazon Starts Interest-Free Financing for PC Hardware

Amazon Starts Interest-Free Financing for PC Hardware

The PC gaming market is difficult to get into, not only because of how intimidating building a PC can be, but also because of cost. Amazon seems to be aware of this barrier, and it has started an experiment in helping make buying PC hardware a less burdensome experience.

To that end, many Amazon shoppers have noticed they now have financing options they didn’t have before. Specifically, these appear for PCs, PC parts, monitors, and other relevant accessories. The financing splits the cost into five monthly payments (regardless of the overall total). The good news is there’s no interest, are no credit checks, and the price doesn’t go up or anything. It’s a straight-up price split with automated payments. The bad news is, it hasn’t been rolled out to everyone and there are some restrictions. Some of the criteria people have discerned are that the only ones getting this offer are US customers, they have accounts with linked credit cards, and have a solid payment history. Also, not every product in the relevant categories qualifies.

This could very well alleviate a lot of the problems aspiring PC gamers run into when thinking about making the plunge. Splitting up two grand or more into monthly deposits sounds great, especially if no interest or credit is involved. Hopefully, this benefit will do well and stick around, unlike the eroding Amazon Prime deals for video game pre-orders.
