An Xbox Smartwatch Was in the Works in 2013

It’s interesting what you can find leaked on the Internet from time to time. The reveal that’s buzzing around today is an unreleased product from Microsoft. The makers of the Xbox console were apparently going to release an Xbox smartwatch.

It’s an interesting reveal, since the smartwatch looks much like any other tech watch we’ve seen in this day and age. There’s a square screen and the back shows the Xbox logo and a heart-rate monitor. The technology developed in this unrelated project clearly influenced future Microsoft products, since the Microsoft Band was released in 2014. The Microsoft Band probably used the unreleased heart-rate monitor from their smartwatch.

The watch was in development back in 2013 and was expected be released into the wild in 2015. Apparently, it would have linked up with Microsoft Surface tablets. The world may never know what the intention of this Xbox smartwatch would have been. With the Xbox branding, rather than Microsoft, it was probably going to be used for gaming in some way. What are your theories? Would you have used an Xbox smartwatch?
