Basement Crawl has apparently suffered poor critical reception, but Bloober Team is reacting to the response rather maturely. Not only did they offer an apology, but they also revealed plans to remake the game.
“Usually, what you will see at this point is a lot of marketing talk and maybe a patch,” said Bloober Team’s Marc Calhoun. “Rather than accepting defeat on this and issuing a patch that kinda fixes this or kinda improves that, we have decided to just come out and explain to you where we are right now and what we plan to do. We have been rebuilding the game, completely from scratch and on a new engine.”
Players who have already purchased the game will receive the new version for free. I respect Bloober Team for not just simply releasing a patch that simply fixes a specific issue. However, I’m still skeptical if their efforts will be worth it.
