Booster One Headset Offers New Control Options

Booster One Headset Offers New Control Options

A Kickstarter has just appeared for a new gaming headset called the Booster One. But we’re not going to talk about those technical details that get into the audio quality regarding the headphones or microphone. This headset is more unique than that. It has gyroscopes built into it that allow you to control elements of your game with a turn or jerk of your head.

Here’s how it works. The Booster One starts with a control unit that has headphone volume, microphone volume, gyroscope sensitivity, and illumination color knobs on it. If you choose to program it so head tilts and movements cause things to happen, you need to go into the settings application to adjust sensitivity and assign keys to the up, down, left, and right head movements. There are also preset modes, like flight, racing, shooter, and strategy, to help you out. So in a shooter, looking left or right could make you change weapons or reload, while a strategy game could make the screen scroll.

This is not only a cool trick for everybody who enjoys games, it could be a great boon to gamers who have disabilities or problems like arthritis that affect their hand movement. The developers appear to have put a lot of working into making sure the headset is fully adjustable for different head sizes, too.

The Booster One headset is hoping to raise $20,000 by November 18, 2016. At the moment, it’s raised over $7,000 from over 30 backers. The smallest pledge amount you can make right now to get a Booster One headset is $199, thanks to the Super Early Bird level. When that option runs out, the minimum pledge will be $209 for the Early Bird tier. The headset will be $359 at launch.
