Dance Central 2 Will Import Songs (For A Price)

None

When Rock Band 2 came out, Harmonix introduced a groundbreaking idea: The game would allow you to import all of your Rock Band 1 songs, so you wouldn’t have to switch disks in order to play songs from a previous version. In fact, this type of functionality is so awesome that we have simply come to expect it from all of our current day rhythm games.

Harmonix won’t disappoint you on the Dance Central front. Dance Central 2 will be able to import all the songs from Dance Central 1. However, Harmonix is going to squeeze a couple extra bucks from you this time.

You’ll have to pay a licensing fee to transfer your songs in the first place. That will ring up a tab of four hundred Microsoft points, or five human dollars. You’ll also need 200-250MB of free space on your hard drive, and a system that is connected to the internet in order to verify each song and store them locally. Oh, and one more thing. You’ll also need a serial number from a Dance Central 1 disc. So those days of passing around one copy of Rock Band 1 to everyone with Rock Band 2 are over.

So, yeah, it feels a bit crappy to be squeezed for money like this, but select retailers are lessening the blow. Pre-ordering Dance Central 2 seems to net you a cool four hundred Microsoft points right off the bat. So diligent shoppers who already have a Dance Central 1 disc will basically get to import for free.
