Dark Souls III: The Ringed City is the second DLC pack for the 2016 action role-playing game, Dark Souls III. FromSoftware developed the downloadable pack, just like the original game. The company made this content pack available to the public in early 2017, about a year after releasing the base game. The pack expands the story and universe in a new location. It also introduces new challenges and characters for players to engage with.
The Ringed City delivers an intriguing storyline that expands on the critically acclaimed narrative of Dark Souls III, where the protagonist, Ashen One, is seeking the Dark Soul of Humanity. Players find themselves navigating a twisted world filled with both new and familiar opponents and dangers. Here in this article, we’ll take a look at what to expect from the DLC pack, and what sort of cheats, codes, and more we can offer for players.
Dark Souls III: The Ringed City Premise
The Ringed City offers a narrative journey that takes the player to the end of the world. The game starts with the Ashen One arriving at the Dreg Heap after defeating the Soul of Cinder and Sister Friede. This ruined land is in ashes, representing thousands of years of history in one devastated landscape. The player must navigate through a series of challenges, including dangerous Lothric knights and Murkmen, to finally reach the Ringed City. Here, the primary objective is to pursue Slave Knight Gael, who is on a quest for the Dark Soul of Humanity.
The player, known as the Ashen One, follows Gael through the realm, experiencing dangers and uncovering mysteries. Accordingly, the DLC promises to deliver exactly what players expect from a Souls product. In their quest for the Dark Soul of Humanity, players come across a host of challenging enemies, requiring an in-depth knowledge of combat mechanics.
Dark Souls III: The Ringed City Characters
Dark Souls III is known for its unique character design, where players engage with various personas in their journey. During the journey, some of these turn out to be enemies, others friendly folk that help the Ashen One on their journey. The same holds true for The Ringed City, as well. Depending on how they interact with some individuals, they either join in on the quest or attack the protagonist. The game introduces a handful of new characters along with returning ones. Most notable among them is Slave Knight Gael, a central figure in the plot who guides the Ashen One on their quest. Other NPCs and enemies include the Amnesiac Lapp, Judicator Argo, and Princess Filianore, lying in her bed.
Non-player Characters
- Slave Knight Gael: A pivotal character who drives the quest for the Dark Soul of Humanity. Gael undergoes a transformation after consuming Pygmy Lords and absorbing the Dark Soul’s essence. He is the final boss in the DLC.
- Amnesiac Lapp: Amensiac Lapp is a hollow with no memory, wearing a plate armor. Lapp can assist the player in battles, being summonable for The Demon Prince and The Spear of the Church fights if his questline is followed. He presents himself as a trustworthy friend despite his questionable past.
- Princess Filianore: Princess Filianore is a towering figure with long, dark hair, in white robes and a silver circlet. She lies eternally on a bed, holding a cracked shell that resembles an egg, believed to be in a deep sleep for the benefit of humanity.
- Judicator Argo: Argo serves as a Judicator Giant and the overseer of the Spears of the Church covenant. He warns approaching players not to enter the Church of Filianore. He chastises those who ignore his warning and summons foes to attack.
- Pyromancer Zoey: The Desert Pyromancer Zoey is an enemy in The Ringed City DLC. She is a descendant of desert pyromancers and wields a unique pyromancy called Flame Fan, which creates a fan of fire sweeping from side to side.
- Shira: Shira, the Knight of Filianore, is a knight who protects Princess Filianore and once trapped a mad king with her spear. She asks the player to not wake up Princess Filianore and to defeat a dangerous creature named Darkeater Midir. If the player follows her requests, she gives a reward, and if not, she turns into an enemy.
- Silver Knight Ledo: Ledo is one of the enemies in The Ringed City. He can be killed and is known for invading players. The item Ledo’s Great Hammer can be attained from Ledo.
- Alva, Seeker of the Spurned: Alva invades players in Dark Souls III at two locations: near Irithyll Dungeon and in the Ringed City. You can kill him, and he guards the Black Witch Set. After defeating him, you can find his armor near Karla’s cell in Irithyll Dungeon.
- The Stone-humped Hag: The Hag is an old woman who serves as a merchant in the Ringed City. She was once a wet nurse for royalty and now resides in the Dreg Heap. She sells various items to the player.
- The Painter: The Painter is a character from the Ashes of Ariandel expansion. She is the niece of Slave Knight Gael.

Dark Souls III: The Ringed City Cheats
There is no traditional cheat code system implemented in Dark Souls III. This means that there are no developer-approved cheats available. However, for players seeking a bit of an edge, we can provide some help. In addition to a very convenient respec glitch, we list the achievements and trophies, including the secret ones.
The Respec Glitch
The infinite respec glitch in Dark Souls III, and The Ringed City, allows players to respec their character’s stats an unlimited number of times, bypassing the normal limit of five respecs per playthrough. Normally, players can respec their stats by visiting Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth, and offering her a Pale Tongue. However, by exploiting this glitch, players can avoid using up one of their limited respecs. To perform the glitch, players need to visit Rosaria and go through the usual respec process.
After confirming the new stats but before exiting Rosaria’s menu, players should quit the game immediately without leaving the menu. This needs to be done without saving the game, so use means appropriate to the platform to achieve this. When re-entering the game, the player will find that their stats have been changed but the respec counter has not decreased, allowing for infinite respecs.
