DC Universe MOBA “Infinite Crisis” Revealed

DC Universe MOBA “Infinite Crisis” Revealed

With all of the attention on DC Universe, NetherRealm Studio’s upcoming fighter, Infinite Crisis, a new DC Universe-based MOBA almost slipped under the radar. Developed by Turbine, best known for Dungeons & Dragons Online and The Lord of the Rings Online (though also the developers of the Asheron’s Call games), Infinite Crisis looks to pit heroes against villains with fan-favorite DC Universe characters, but with a twist: the characters you know and love aren’t the only versions out there.

Infinite Crisis tackles the DC multiverse, with alternate versions of heroes and villains alike crawling out of the woodwork. Turbine promises that all of this will become important due to a “major story arc.” Executive Producer Jeffrey Steefel also promises “destructible environments” and “catastrophic events.”

This isn’t the first licensed MOBA, Guardians of Middle Earth having launched late last year, but it’s promising to see that Turbine isn’t content to just take the basic MOBA framework, slap a DC coat of paint on it, and call it a day. If you’re interested in seeing if the product lives up to the ambition, beta sign-ups are now open on the Infinite Crisis website. The final product is scheduled for a 2013 release and intended to be free-to-play.
