Dragon Quest XI PS4 & 3DS Being Bundled Together

Dragon Quest XI PS4 & 3DS Being Bundled Together

In today’s weird and wacky news, Dragon Quest XI has gotten a new announcement. Unfortunately it means fairly little so far to western audiences, but it’s so cool and unlikely that we have to share. Dragon Quest XI is getting a special edition release in Japan.

The Dragon Quest XI Double Pack: Hero Sword Box will be just that, a box with a sword on it that holds two tomes. The two books are in fact boxes that hold Dragon Quest XI in two different forms. One box will hold a PlayStation 4 version of the game and the other a 3DS version. The box set will market for 14,960 yen, which is around $135.

Think about that, for a second. You get get a bundle with a Sony PlayStation 4 game and Nintendo 3DS game. How weird is that?

The PlayStation 4 version of the game will be high resolution 3D, which can be seen in the release trailer for the Dragon Quest XI Double Pack . The 3DS version of the game will be exactly the same, but at a lower resolution, or you can play it as a 2D game with pixel art. These two versions of the game release in the Double Pack on July 29 in Japan.

Square Enix has made no confirmation on whether or not Dragon Quest XI will be coming to any countries outside of Japan. Thus far there are no indications that it will. So unless you’re okay with playing the Japanese version of the PlayStation 4 game or have a Japanese 3DS, it looks like we’ll just have to admire Dragon Quest XI from afar.
