Eternatus in Pokemon GO — Where to Encounter and How to Catch This New Legendary Pokemon

Eternamax Eternatus is the new Tier 6 Max Battle in Pokémon GO. Available only on August 23 and 24, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. local time. Raid lobbies of up to 100 trainers can band together to challenge Eternamax Eternatus with an 800 Max Particles entry fee that’s only deducted if you win. Here’s our Pokémon guide to help with the raid. We’re taking a look at the best Pokémon of each archetype as well as beginner tips to ensure success.

Eternatus itself is not available for capture in this raid; however, defeating it will grant you plenty of battle rewards such as stardust, experience, Eternatus Candy, and Eternatus Candy XL. You can also double your rewards with 200 Pokecoins.

Where Do You Encounter Enternamax Eternatus?

Players can find raids by looking for local Gyms with a large egg or a hovering Pokémon with a timer. This is how you know a raid nearby is active. If you’re unable to go to the gym where the raid is happening physically, you can also use a remote raid pass to join from anywhere, as long as you can also see the raid on your GPS or if somebody invites you to it. The 800 Max Particles entry fee is the same.

Eternamax Eternatus Counters

When facing off against Eternatus, it is essential to ensure your chosen team is well-equipped to counter its boosted Max Moves. Also, be sure to have some variety as well; great offensive Pokémon won’t matter if you’re being wiped instantly. In each group, there should always be a dedicated team of tanks and a dedicated team of healers. Eternatus is a poison and dragon type, making it weak to ice, dragon, psychic, and ground type moves.

The Best DPS

Your DPS Pokémon will be the main source of damage. Try to limit to one per trainer, and the Max Attack skill is key.

The best Eternatus counter is Eternatus itself. It is the stronger Dragon-type attacker in the game currently, but of course, most players won’t have access to it yet, so in the meantime, another strong attacker would be helpful. Eternatus is linked to reaching rank 60 in the Go Pass: Max Finale.

The Best Tanks

These Pokémon should have Max Guard leveled up, and they will be able to take reduced damage from Eternamax Eternatus. Furthermore, they should use their fast attacks to gain energy and then utilize Guard to redirect single-target damage back at themselves. It’s best if every trainer has either two of these or two healers. The best tanks are Zamazenta and Zacian, because they are resistant to Eternatus’s offensive options.

The Best Healers

The Healers have a lot in common with the Tank class, so if preferred, they are interchangeable and can be swapped. While both tend to have high HP, healers can also heal well, as expected. The Pokémon should have their Max Spirit leveled up.

Tips For Beginners

No matter if you are a beginner Pokémon GO player or a veteran, preparation is key when it comes to taking down high-level raids. Here are some of the best tips to keep in mind while facing off with Eternamax Eternatus.

  • Upgrade all of your counters’ Max Moves before raiding.
  • Learn attack patterns; it’s essential to dodge targeted moves when possible and allow your tanks to absorb area-of-effect damage.
  • Coordinate with your team and be prepared to tailor your team composition to meet the raid’s needs, whether that involves attackers, tanks, or healers.
