I’m absolutely showing my unfamiliarity with modern-day Street Fighter here, but I could’ve sworn that Akuma was already in Street Fighter V (I must be thinking of one of Street Fighter IV ‘s many incarnations). It turns out that he wasn’t, but that’s about to change, as Akuma is slated to be released as the latest DLC character for the popular brawler.
His existence was teased during the Red Bull Battle Grounds competition over the weekend with a short trailer. His signature red eyes and kanji-emblazoned gi are visible in the teaser, but not much else. It was also revealed that PlayStation Experience attendees will be among the first to try Akuma, as he’ll be playable at the event on December 3. The Capcom Cup tournament will be in full swing at the event, so if you’re in the area, you can swing by and check it out for yourself.
No official release date or pricing has been announced for Akuma yet, but like all post-launch DLC for Street Fighter V , he will most likely be purchasable with Zenny (real money) or Fight Money (free credits earned by playing the game).
