One of the announcements during Sony’s press conference in Japan ended up leading to a North American release as well. Final Fantasy IX has received the same treatment Final Fantasy VII did earlier in the PlayStation 4’s life, getting a “Digital Edition.” This is a port of the recent PC and mobile version of the game, bundled with some extra goodies.
Final Fantasy IX Digital Edition will cost $20.99 down the line, but is currently on sale for $16.79. Purchasing the game also grants the customer access to eight PSN character avatars and a new PlayStation 4 theme that comes with unique sound effects and music.
The game itself has a list of features that help ease the player’s quality of life compared to the original PlayStation version from 2000. In addition to a higher resolution, the game has an auto-save function, a number of “boosts,” trophies, Share support, and Remote Play support. These boosts can alter the game’s speed, turn off random encounters, let you immediately master al Abilities, can max out levels, give magic stones and even provide gil. They are built-in cheat codes, essentially. We like those here.
