Get an Amazing First Look at Platforming in Cuphead

Cuphead is one of the shining, mighty, few-remaining bastions of creative development for the Xbox One. As far as games I can’t wait to see more of at E3, this is in my top five, right behind Persona 5 , Absolver , and the new Legend of Zelda . It features these fantastic, 1940s-cartoon-style, hand-drawn visuals and animations, and I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s hard to believe that a game this beautiful and this unique is running on Unity.

Originally, Cuphead only had one mode: a boss-rush. Fans of the game were a little disappointed that there wasn’t more to it, and Studio MDHR took their complaints to heart. Back they went to the drawing board, and back they’ve come with a new platforming mode meant to more fully flesh out the game. IGN got a first-look of an early level, and it looks fantastic. You can tell the difficulty very steadily and continually ramps up as you progress, and all of the varied enemies are brilliantly animated as you’d expect. Check out the footage right here:
