GOG Will Carry New Games Too

None

It turns out that sometimes an identity crisis can be a good thing. Case in point: Good Old Games announced today that it will start carrying newer games through its virtual store.

Starting in 2012, GOG will start adding more recently released games, with the goal of carrying over 400 games by the year’s end. The new games will come with the typical GOG guarantee though, meaning they’ll be DRM-free, include extra content, and have a consistent flat price worldwide. Of course, being newer games, that flat price will be higher than the current list of classics, though a solid price point hasn’t been revealed yet.

New games aren’t entirely new to GOG, with the service recently carrying The Witcher 2. However, since that game was created by CD Projekt Red, the same studio that owns GOG, it’s hard to count that as a precedent.

GOG is currently staying silent regarding which newer games to expect when 2012 rolls around, though the service’s history of working with EA, Activision, Atari, and BioWare might provide some hints.
